Gary D. Sasser
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
After serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, Gary Sasser attended the University of Tennessee while working part time in the transportation business. In 1971, at the age of 21, Gary purchased Averitt Express. Since that time, Gary Sasser’s vision for Averitt has been to maintain a strong focus on people, demonstrated by providing the best service to its customers and developing the full potential of its associates. With the support of the local communities in which Averitt operates, Gary’s vision has allowed the company to grow into a full-service provider. Gary Sasser’s commitment to serving and developing people extends beyond the company of Averitt. He is well-known personally for his community-minded philanthropic efforts. Gary serves on the board of several local, state, and national charitable organizations.
Steve Gregory, P.E.
Executive Vice President
With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Steve began flying in 1978 and received his Commercial Helicopter Certificate in 1983. He received his Airline Transport Pilot Certificate in 1991 and subsequently added LR-JET, LR-45 type ratings, and the Commercial Single Engine Sea Certificate. Formerly serving as principal engineer for Resource Consultants, Inc., Steve joined Averitt in September 1998.
